Trek the iconic Larapinta Trail to help Kids Under Cover support young people at risk of homelessness.
Get ready to immerse yourself in the rugged beauty of the West MacDonnell Ranges.
Located in Australia’s Red Centre, on this seven-day adventure, you’ll trek sections of the iconic Larapinta Trail, one of the most popular wilderness walks in Australia. Following the red rock slopes of the West MacDonnell Ranges, you’ll explore the breathtaking landscapes that make this world-renowned trek a National Geographic favourite.
From awe-inspiring gorges and expansive plains to towering mountains and snaking rivers, you’ll trek scenic paths to the heart of the Red Centre and experience a connection to Country unattainable anywhere else in Australia.
To ensure you experience the inimitable majesty and rich history of the Red Centre, we’ve curated a quintessentially Outback adventure that takes in the best sections along the trail.
By day, you’ll explore significant sights, including the limestone hills of the Finke River, the unique natural amphitheatre that is Ormiston Pound and climb to the summit of Mount Sonder (1,380m) for incredible, panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, plains, valleys and salt lakes below. At night, you’ll retreat to a bush camp and spend your evenings sitting around a campfire with like-minded adventurers before falling asleep in traditional swags under a star-filled sky.
Most importantly, the funds you raise as part of the Hike for Youth Homelessness can help Kids Under Cover build a two-bedroom studio for two young people at risk of homelessness. With your support, we can strengthen their connection to family, community and education, and make a lasting difference in their lives.
A truly soulful experience, you will reminisce on this once-in-a-lifetime adventure for years to come.
On the Hike for Youth Homelessness, you’ll have the exciting opportunity to participate in a physically challenging hike in our own beautiful backyard, while fundraising to help Kids Under Cover support young people at risk of homelessness.
Did you know children and young people make up two out of every five people experiencing homelessness in Australia? That’s 27,683 kids without homes.
There is not enough funding available to provide a Kids Under Cover studio to every family and young person that needs one. In the past 12 months alone we have received more than 850 requests, all of which will go unanswered.

There are many creative and fun ways in which you can fundraise. To help get you started we have created an Online Fundraising Resource Hub containing an A-Z guide of fundraising ideas, “how to” guides for certain events and sample press releases and corporate sponsorship letters. You will also have regular support from the Soulful Concepts team, who will help you develop a fundraising plan tailored to your network. In addition you will also be supported by Kids Under Cover.
