Trip at a glance

Trek through the remote and picturesque Sapa Valley on this 11-day adventure with Plan International Australia, supporting projects that empower girls around the world.

Spend 5 days trekking lush rainforests, through mountain villages and get to know the local community with homestays.  Travel to the depths of the valley, follow winding streams and hike up steep rises to admire magnificent views from the mountain tops. Immerse yourself among the indigenous communities living traditional lives in these forests and have the rare experience of sharing time with them in their villages. Bask in the tranquility of being fully immersed in nature while challenging yourself to trek each day.

Explore the fascinating city of Hanoi. Stroll through the bustling streets lined with markets, wander around historic temples filled with stories of times gone by, ask questions of your local guides and get to know the true history, culture and wonders of Vietnam. Be inspired by the museums of the city, especially the Vietnam Women’s Museum - and get a glimpse into the lives and roles of the women of this country. You’ll also sample plenty of local delicacies and enjoy traditional dishes such as pho during an authentic street food tour on your last day in Vietnam.

Most importantly, you’ll raise funds to support the work of Plan International Australia and have the opportunity to see firsthand an example of how your fundraising can benefit children and young people in Vietnam and around the world. You’ll get to meet Plan International staff on the ground and take part in a school-based Champions of Change training session under the Safer Cities for Girls program. See how together we’re working to change the world so that all children can live happy and healthy lives, and where girls can live free and equal.

Join us on this incredible once in a lifetime journey in Vietnam and help create a just world for all children and equality for girls.

Give back

We’re for children. We’re for girls. We’re for change.

Plan International is a global not-for-profit, working to change the world so that all children can live happy and healthy lives, and so girls can take their rightful place as equals.

We want to see a world where all children can access their rights and reach their potential. Yet the barriers of poverty, violence, displacement, exclusion, discrimination and inequality all too often stand in their way. These barriers only get higher or harder for girls in all their diversities – simply because they are girls.

We create deep, long-lasting change with a focus on girls, the unique challenges and barriers they face and the potential they hold when they are truly heard and included.

When you raise funds for Plan International you’re supporting change for girls – from tackling barriers at a grassroots level through to advocating to change laws and attitudes that hold girls back. That work reaches children and adults no matter their age or gender. It reaches entire communities. It transforms societies. And it helps us reach our goal of a world where every child can thrive.

This Plan Adventure will not only take you deep into the Vietnamese countryside, but also give you the opportunity to see a program that your fundraising can help support.

Your Impact:

  • $25 can provide a mum-to-be care kit: A baby’s first 1000 days determines their health for the rest of their life. By giving new mothers training in nutrition, hygiene and sanitation, you can give them all the tools they need to raise healthy babies.
  • $30 can provide legal identity for a girl: Millions of girls grow up without formal recognition of their existence. Providing girls with birth certificates can protect them from early marriage, exploitation and trafficking, and securing a future where they can vote, work and claim their rights.
  • $55 can provide an emergency hygiene kit: In a disaster, waterborne diseases usually kill more people than the disaster itself. Emergency hygiene kits contain life-saving soap, toothbrushes, shampoo and toilet paper – the hygiene essentials for children and families who’ve survived a disaster.
  • $70 can give a young woman a small grant to help kick-start her own food business. The grant can cover cooking and business skills, food items and training on good nutrition.
  • $115 can provide training for a woman to manage a crop farm: When women are given the tools they need to forge their own paths, they can benefit from more than just income – a working farm can sustain women and their families well into the future.
  • $900 can provide safe accommodation for girls: Your support can be used to support a young rural woman to gain vital job training away from home for three months. It can give them a safe place to live and healthy food close to the training centre.
