After a hearty breakfast, via private transfer, it’s time to leave for Udawalawe via Kaduruketha.
Stopping for lunch at Jetwing Kaduruketha Hotel, you and your fellow travellers will have the opportunity to reminisce on the past few days of exhilarating achievements you’ve made together.
During our trip today, we take a charming drive through the verdant green hills of the tea country to visit the Diyaluma Waterfall, the second highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. Not just your casual drive ‘from A to B’, this journey is a visual feast.
Once we reach Diyaluma, we begin on foot and meander through a nearby trail that leads through the hills to the top of the falls*. Hold your breath in amazement as the waterfall cascades a shimmering 220 metres down a sheer, steep cliff. Cool off by taking a dip in one of the refreshing natural rock pools and gaze out to the scenic, rainforest below. This is a perfect vantage point to take in the beauty of the tea country.
Feeling invigorated after our waterfall adventure, it’s time to set off for Udawalawe. Here ends the trekking portion of our trip.
Overnight in Udawalawe.
*Depending on weather conditions today, we may take a tuk-tuk ride up to the summit of Diyaluma and trek down to the waterfall, or, we may be on foot upwards from the road below the waterfall, as mentioned above.

It was a life changing experience. After the eye testing day I will never again complain about my privileged life. The hikes were not easy due to the heat and hills, but with training you will be fine and the elevation means that you get the most incredible views! Besides, we needed to work off the huge amounts of delicious food we were fed every day! – Trek for Sight 2020

“Travel with a Purpose” is not just a slogan w/ Soulful Concepts and the Brien Holden Trek-for-Sight group. My recent trip to Sri Lanka was the experience of a lifetime. I felt truly needed & helpful at the remote clinic exams, working with the professionals of the Warakapola Brien Holden Vision Center. The following tour of Sri Lanka introduced me to the beautiful country, rich history & culture, and amazing FOOD! Visits to temples, challenging treks like the climb of Adam’s Peak through the night to see the sunrise, and hotels that pampered us w/ extensive buffets and delicious massages. I’m ready to return!

Trek for sight was a very rewarding experience on many levels. Meeting the people that work in the field of Eyecare over there and their very limited resources was a humbling experience. The people of Sri-Lanka were so welcoming everywhere we went. The mis was not a thing that resembled a relaxing holiday. We were on the move constantly and the trekking was definitely challenging. But it was all worth it. Having a local guide in countries such as this made the whole experience rise to another level. Learning so much about their culture and way of life , religion, food. And the food was amazing. Feel this experience should be renamed. “ trekking and eating for sight” – Marilyn Tucker, Trek for Sight 2020
