    Trip at a glance

Delve into the essence of Cambodia on a ten-day adventure; biking, paddling and trekking through this captivating country. Starting in vibrant Phnom Penh, we ride along the banks of the glorious Mekong river, enjoy pedalling under cool palms, passing farmers tending to their cattle and fishermen casting their nets. Stay on the eastern banks in a newly renovated colonial villa, and enjoy local cuisine at a family home. Throughout the journey, you'll experience two outstanding kayaking expeditions to sight the freshwater dolphins and the flooded forests that sit below the rapids at the Laos border. Hike the Dangrek Mountains to visit the impressive temple Preah Vihear that overlooks Thailand before exploring the Kulen ranges.

Finish your trip with an explorational ride through the ruins of the Angkor Wat, and explore the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire, before making your way back to the charismatic city of Siem Reap.

This action packed adventure is one you will never forget.

DAY 2: DEPART PHNOM PENH, TRANSFER & RIDE TO CHHLONG
We depart Phnom Penh in the morning, which is an adventure in itself. Thousands of cars and scooters weaving through packed cargo trucks and pedestrians. Leaving this bustling city behind us, we reach open, flat plains with brilliant green rice fields as far as the eye can see. Beginning our journey on bikes, we pedal along small village roads, past farmlands to weave up the Mighty Mekong bank. Approaching the capital of Kampong Cham, we cross to the islands of Koh Soten and Koh Pen situated in the middle of the Mekong, before crossing the newly erected concrete bridge. We have lunch in Kampong Cham town before travelling by vehicle to our charming and unique accommodation.

Accommodation: Le Relais de Chhong (this depends on the availability as it has only 10 rooms otherwise  will  be staying in Kratie)

DAY 3: BIKE TO KRATIE & EXPLORE THE MEKONG ISLANDS
Waking up in our French colonial villa on the banks of the Mekong, enjoy a relaxed breakfast before pedalling along the river to the town of Kratie. We take a ferry to the other side of the Mekong and continue along past paddy fields and villages while enjoying the stunning countryside views. Enjoy lunch on the island of Koh Trong in a small family home, enjoy a refreshing dip in the water before taking our van back to the villa for a relaxed afternoon by the bar and pool.

DAY 4: KAYAK WITH THE MEKONG DOLPHINS, TRANSFER TO STUNG TRENG
We begin our adventure at the Kampi river pools, just outside Kratie. Starting with a short lesson on the kayaks, we enter the mighty Mekong river, and hope to get a glimpse of the endangered, yet playful Irrawaddy Dolphins. This noninvasive advance by Kayak is a safe and non threatening approach for the Dolphins. As we paddle downstream towards Kratie, keeping an eye out for the curious Dolphins, we pass a few small islands before pulling into the shore for a bite to eat. After lunch, we head upstream toward the town of Stung Treng, where our prime positioned guesthouses on the banks of the river awaits us.

Kayaking distance: 12 kms (moderate, down steam)

DAY 5: KAYAK FLOODED FORESTS OF THE MEKONG
We begin today's journey with a ride in our van up to the Laos border. This location, known as the flooded forests, is home to hundreds of small islands, held together by trees with gnarled roots. Kayaking through these small channels in-between the islands, with accelerated currents at times, makes today's paddle a lot of fun! We kayak downstream for a few hours, before stopping for lunch on one of the many islands before heading back upstream in a small motor boat. Our beautiful guesthouse awaits, where we spend a relaxed evening discussing all we have seen so far, and what is yet to come.

    Accommodation: Stung Treng resorts

    Meals: B,L,D

Kayaking distance: 6 kms (moderate, down steam)

DAY 6: STUNG TRENG - PREAH VIHEAR RIDING
Rising early this morning, we transfer by van to our cycle starting point. We pedal through open and quiet country towards the Preah Vihear temple. After stopping for lunch, we transfer to a four wheel drive to get us the rest of the way, as the road to the top remains unfinished and is very steep. Reaching the top, it is clear why this spectacular location has been listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. While the temple has not yet been restored, the intricate carvings and views across the Cambodian jungle will take your breath away. Once we have looked at our fill, we head back down to cycle to our accommodation for dinner and a good night's rest.

DAY 7: TRANSFER TO BANTEAY SREI THEN CYCLE CAMBODIA COUNTRYSIDE TO SIEM REAP
Travelling by van through the former Khmer Rouge stronghold of Anlong Veng, we continue south for a short visit to the pink temple, Banteay Srei. This temple is built from red sandstone, and is the only major temple constructed by courtiers instead of monarchs. After a bite of lunch, we are back on our bikes to begin our journey towards Siem Reap. Pedalling along tree lined back roads through this quiet countryside, farmers tending to their livestock will be waving up to our group as we pass. Entering Siem Reap through the archeological park, enjoy the magical atmosphere as we head towards our accommodation.

    Cycling distance: 40 km (moderate)

DAY 8: HIKE THE KULEN RANGE TRAIL & SWIM IN THE HOLY WATERFALL
We start the day with a drive north to the starting point of our hike at Kulen Plateau. This is the nearest mountain range to Siem Reap and was the source of most of the stone used in the construction of the temples and ancient city. We begin our ascent and follow the Langur trail through dry rainforest and past large sandstone boulders before reaching a waterfall at the thousand linga river. Here we enjoy lunch and a swim before heading back down in our van.

    Accommodation: Tara Angkor Hotel

    Meals: B,L,D

    Hiking distance: 10 km (moderate)

DAY 9: ANGKOR WAT SUNRISE AND BIKE THE ANCIENT TEMPLES

After breakfast, we set off on our final ride and of course, we saved the best for last. Enjoy secret trails that lead us to hidden ruins, ride on dedicated bike paths to visit sites such as the Bayon temple and Ta Prohm. Our day concludes with lunch and a transfer back to your hotel with plenty of time to pack before your flight home.
